Organizing Update!

Since there is a Link party for organization going on, I thought that I would share an organizing update with you all!  I have been chipping away at my kitchen, and I thought that I would share my up-to-date progress.
First area accomplished was my pantry cupboard/closet.  Here are the before and after shots...
Next up was my food pantry cupboard.  This cupboard houses my everyday food items, not my stock-piled items.  Here are the before and after pictures...
Next on the organizing to-do list was the underneath of the kitchen sink. This was a hard one to do because I use almost all of the items on a daily/weekly basis, so everything pretty much had to stay, but in a more organized fashion.
Here's what I ended up with...

Last, is my pots and pans/spices cupboard.  This one had some definite boundary issues, as my spices were blurring into my cooking oils, and my canning supplies and hot beverage items were intermingling.  But after a little work, things were back in order and ready to go!  Here's the before and after...

Thursday's Rite-Aid Trip

Spice/Pots and Pans Cupboard - Crossed off the list!

Here is the before of my spice/pan cupboard, and as you can tell it needed some work.  I had spices that I don't use, as well as canning supplies overtaking the top shelf, something had to be done.  And it was, here is the after...
Ahh...  The after is so much better!  The top shelf still holds my canning supplies, but having them all in one basket helps to keep them contained, and I had space on the right side for my kettle, hot cocoas, and Joe's Agave nectar.  The second shelf is my most used pots and pans, all stainless steel or cast aluminum, there's also a steamer.  The bottom shelf has spices on the left, tea bags in a jar in the middle, and oils/cooking sprays/Crisco, and larger containers of spices (i.e. Old Bay, Taco Seasoning, etc) on the right.
Above is a close up of the spice section of the cupboard, and below is my trusty spice rack that hangs beside my stove.  That way I don't have to fumble in the basket for the spice I want, it's right where I need it, and I can fill it up as necessary!

Another Organized Kitchen Cupboard - Check!

Here's the before of our main food/pantry cupboard.  Not horrible, but in definite need of a little organizing and tidying.  After I took everything out, wiped down the shelves, threw away a few expired items, I could reorganize the shelves in a way that made more sense to me.
And, here's the after picture.  I LOVE my pantry now, everything I use pretty much everyday is all in one spot!  The top shelf has a basket with my onions stored inside, as well as a jar of mini saltines (missing from picture, Joe was using them at the moment), popcorn kernels, and Melba toasts.  There is also a vintage Kellogg's tin with my travel drink sticks inside.  To the right of the popcorn are a few seasonings to put on top of popped popcorn.
The second shelf has a basket for white/Russet potatoes, as well as one for sweet potatoes.  I have 3 boxes of organic penne pasta and 2 of organic spaghetti right now, as well as 2 boxes of taco shells and 1 bag of egg noodles.  The jars hold jasmine rice, lentils, barley, and long-grain white rice.
The bottom shelf has syrups and sauces, as well as canned tuna/salmon, natural peanut butter, and also my recipe box.  The right side has seasoning packets, pouches of tuna/salmon, my crystal light mixes, croutons, and various other seasonings (i.e. shake and bake, veggie flakes for dips, larger containers of chili and fajita seasonings, etc).
This is the cupboard above my pantry cupboard.  I only took one picture, because other that moving all of the drink mixes into this cupboard on the left, it really only needed a little tidying up.  This cupboard has lots of various drink mixes on the left (all Joe's), and extra pasta, rice, shake and bake, and a couple hamburger helpers on the right.  (P.S. I know that Hamburger Helper is terrible unhealthy, but every once in a while, I just have to have a bowl, you know what I mean?!)

So how are your pantry cupboards looking?  If a tidying is in order, make the time and knock this project out, and if your like me, you'll LOVE your results!

Another Organizing Update - Under the Kitchen Sink!

The before.  This was definitely o-v-e-r-d-u-e!!!
During the cleaning out process...
And here, is the finished product!
I used an adhesive hook (like a command hook, but not re-positionable) from the Dollar Tree (came in a pkg of 12) for my re-usable cloth duster, and my bottle scrub brush.  My mom bought me the Lazy-Susan (used for my cleaning products) from the Goodwill in Eldersburg for only $3!  It doesn't work perfect, but it gets the job done.  I also used baskets from the Dollar Tree for my sponge/scrubbie stock-pile (which took up 2 baskets), my cleaning cloths, and some magic erasers/cleaning samples I have to use up.
And here is the close up view, which you can see my hanging watering can in (attached to a pipe with a bungee strap).  I think that having your cleaning supplies organized makes the task of cleaning a little more cheery!

Sunday's Big Lots Trip!

After Rite-Aid, Joe and I noticed that Big Lots was having a 20% off with coupon sale.  So we stopped in to see if we could get a coupon, and we did!  We picked up a few stock-up deals, and a couple of things for Joe's grandfather, which he paid us back for.  Here's what we ended up with...

2 Newman's Own Organic Oreo Cookies $1.30 ea - $0.26 ea coupon = $1.04 ea or 2/$2.08
1 bag Waffle Pretzels $1.30 - $0.26 coupon = $1.04
1 pkg Pro Weld (for Joe's grandfather) $3 - $0.60 coupon = $2.40 (got paid back for so zero for us)
1 bottle Fuel Injector Cleaner (for Joe's grandfather) $2 - $0.40 coupon = $1.60 (got paid back for so zero for us)
+ $0.55 Tax

Chili and Salad
Baked Penne Pasta with Sauteed Green Beans, Salad, and Garlic Bread
Leftover Buffet
Crock-pot Pulled Pork and Salad and Baked French Fries
