A few Freebies at the Mall!

Joe and I went to pick up a few freebies Sunday at the Mall.  The first stop was Hallmark to spend my $10 and $5 off coupons, good on ANY purchase.  I used this opportunity to stock up on almost FREE cards (birthday, sympathy and thinking of you), 10 in all.  Because each of my cards were only $0.99 ea, I threw a chocolate PB Santa in for good measure.  My total was $10.39 - $10 Coupon + $0.62 Tax = $1.01!  Joe got my Christmas card for next year (he did this last year as well), and I picked out the adorable mittens for my stocking (these are going to look super cute on my rear-view mirror)!  His total was ? - he won't let me see the receipt - BOO!
The second stop was Bath and Body Works to pick up my FREE lotion.  I usually pick up these freebies throughout the year to give as birthday and Christmas presents, however, I LOVE the coconut scent, so this one will be staying with me :-)  Total Cost: FREE!

Top Ten Tuesday - Homemade Gift Ideas!

This week's Top Ten Tuesday is all about homemade gift ideas!  With the economy in the state that it is, and the raising costs of everything, homemade gifts are definitely the way to go.  Here are my top ten!
  1. Glittery Gingerbread Play-doh.  Do you know a child alive who wouldn't love that?  I know I don't!
 2.  Homemade Sugar Scrub, so easy and so wonderfully exfoliating!  And for the more advanced, there are a variety of scents and textures you can try here.
3.  Homemade calendars are a very useful gift, as well as memorable.  If you have kids, this would be a great gifts for grandparents and even aunts and uncles.  If you don't have kids, any family member would be happy to receive a calender full of family photos or you could make a themed calender, i.e. cats, cars, food, lighthouses, and the lists goes on and on...
4. Cup-cakes.  This would make a great teacher or Sunday School helper gift, and super easy too!
5.  No-Sew Sachets.  These can be easily customized by color and scent to accommodate many recipients.
6.  Cup Cuffs are a great way to re-purpose old sweaters into some new and useful.  Very clever!
7.  Chocolate Cookie Bark is definitely going to be at the top of my 'goodie-to-make list' next year!  Easy and looks so delicious!
8.  How about some bath salts to go with that sugar scrub?  Sounds like the beginnings of a spa basket for each of the ladies in you life!
9.  This snowman button is adorable!  I know several ladies at our church who would love to receive on of these for Christmas!
10.  This greeting card bowl would make an even better present filled with delicious homemade goodies!

Top Ten Tuesday - Cookie Recipe to Try!

This is my first of hopefully many Top Ten Tuesday posts!  This week I would like to share 10 of the MANY delicious cookie recipes that have been flooding into my e-mailbox from different companies newsletters.  I can't wait to get started on some of these for holiday goodie bags!

#1.) These really simple Spice Cookies are definitely at the top of my 'to-make' list this year!
#2.) My husband is gonna love these Buckeye Cookies!
#3.) These White Chocolate Cherry Shortbread Cookies should be a nice mix of sweet and tart.
#4.) I cannot wait to try these Lemon Snap Cookies.  I buy these in the store because they are one of my favorites, it will be so nice to have them made from scratch though!
#5.) And this version, as well.
#6.) One cannot forget a classic.  Chocolate Chips cookies anyone?
#7.) These Snickerdoodles are a family favorite that I make every year.  Crisp, chewy and full of cinnamon!
#8.) Ice Box Cookies!  I haven't made these since I was little!  Super excited to find this recipe!
#9.) A nice, easy Sugar Cookie recipe.
#10.) This simple Iced Oatmeal cookie is delicious and more nutritious then some I have seen.
