Today's Dollar Tree Trip

My last trip for this week was the Dollar Tree.  They had some white plates out (which is what I'm getting for the kitchen, very BH&G!  I'm selling my old green fruit set), and I needed the vicks, so I grabbed a few things while Joe and I were there.  Here's what we ended up with...
2 Vapor Chest Rubs (Vick's)
4 White Mugs
3 White Plates (going back tomorrow for another one - oops!)
1 Medical Tape (for Joe's Toe)
2 pkgs Slivered Almonds (buying ahead for holiday baking - these are nice and safe in the freezer until then)
1-2 pk Tennis Balls (for Joe's grandfather's dog for Christmas)
+ $0.48 Tax
Total OOP: $13.48!

Small Big Lots Trip this Week!

Joe had toe surgery on Thursday, so while I waited, I perused the aisles of Big Lots.  I was hoping to get a few Christmas presents bought, but nothing really struck my fancy, so I just got some all-natural cleaners instead...
3 All-Natural Multi-purpose Spray Cleaners $1.20 ea = 3/$3.60
+ $0.22 Tax
Total OOP: $3.82!

Amish Market Trip 11/03/2011!

Thursday Joe and I had to stop down to Joe's grandfather's house for something, and since it was Thursday and the Amish market was open, we stopped in to see if they had the natural/unrefined sugar, and they did, so we stocked up!  Here's what we ended up with...
4-5 lb bags Unrefined/natural Sugar $7.53 + $7.83 + $7.88 + $7.83 = over 20lbs for $31.07 (about $1.55 a lb)
1 pkg Mini Cinnamon Chips (the only place I was going to be able to get these from for a recipe I wanted to try was on Amazon, so I was glad to not have to pay shipping for them, and they are a cheaper price as well!) $3.46!
Total OOP: $34.53!

BJ's Trip This Week

I also stopped into BJ's earlier this week to use a couple coupons that were about to expire.  Here's what I got...
1 Tostitos Salsa $5.49 - $1.75/1 BJ's Coupon = $3.74
2 McCormick Seasonings (Taco and Chili) $5.49 and $6.29 - $3/2 BJ's Coupon = 2/$8.78 or $4.39 ea
Total OOP: $12.52!

Rite-Aid Trip from Earlier this Week!

Monday I stopped into Rite-Aid to use the $8/2 Cover Girl coupons that expired 10/31, and I was able to combine them with a sale, an UP+Reward deal, and a MIR for some FREE make-up!!!!  Here's how it went down...
8 various Cover Girl Face Powders $7.99 ea - $4 x 4 (BOGO 50% off Sale) - $8/2 MC x 4 = 8/$15.92
1-2 pk Olay Bar Soap $3.99 - $0.80 card discount = $3.19
2 bottles Herbal Essences Shampoo $4.49 ea - $1.50 ea Sale - $1/1 MC x 2 - $1 UP+Rewards x 2 = 2/$1.98
+ $3.44 Tax
- $2 UP+Rewards used to Pay
Total OOP: $24.53 - $15 and $2 UP+Rewards Earned and $10 P&G MIR = ALL FREE + $2.47 Money-Maker!!!!!

Happy Halloween!

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Halloween!
Try not to eat too much candy!

Our First Snow Winter 2011-2012!

This past Saturday we had the surprise of snowfall in October!  We got an accumulation of about 3", and I thought that I would share some pictures.  Really gets me in the mood for Christmas ;-)

Menu Plan Monday: October 31st, 2011!

This week the museum closes for the season until Christmas, so I will have extra time to do my transcribing!  I have to be finished by the 19th, so wish me luck!  I'm keeping the menu simple again this week, as I have been noticing the more simple the menu is, the less leftovers get wasted!  And in my book, that's a very good thing.  Here's what cooking this week...
Breakfasts:  Cold or Hot Cereal, Toast with All-natural Strawberry Spread and Butter, or Bagels with Cream Cheese

Lunches: Leftovers, Homemade Calzones, or Canned Soup with Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Dinners:
Sunday - Chicken/Bacon/Tomato Alfredo Sauce on Pasta with Garlic Bread
Monday - Grilled Bacon Cheeseburgers with Sauteed Onions and Baked French Fries
Tuesday - Broiled Parmesan Tilapia and Asparagus with Jasmine Rice
Wednesday - Quesadillas with Chips and Salsa and Salad
Thursday - Out :-)
Friday - Homemade Pizza with Salad
Saturday - Loaded Omelets with Toast

Extras: I might try-out a recipe I have for baked Apple Cider Donuts later this week, but we'll see how the typing goes...
